"Post Cereal has launched a new addition to its line of Post Sesame Street Cereals - S is for Strawberry, with natural strawberry flavor! Little ones will love starting their day with Big Bird, the iconic Muppet featured on the front of box.

Parents will always remember children's milestones - their first step, their first word - now, make their early transition to solid foods fun and exciting with Post Sesame Street Cereal. Specially formulated to meet a growing toddler’s needs, all three varieties – A is for Apple, B is for Banana, S is for Strawberry - provide 2/3 of a toddler's daily whole grains per serving with only 1 gram of sugar. Parents will feel good letting little ones eat the cereal, which melts away for safe and easy consumption. Additionally, the fun X and O shapes are specifically designed for little fingers to grasp.

Each box features a beloved Sesame Street character, including Elmo, Cookie Monster and Big Bird, and includes two different educational activities parents and little ones to enjoy together. Back in February I shared a review on the Elmo and Cookie Monster cereals from Post.  You can read my review post here -- http://www.inspiredbysavannah.com/2013/02/post-introduces-new-sesame-street-elmo.html.  In my post, I shared how both girls were excited to see their favorite Sesame Street characters on the front of the box, and couldn't wait to try the cereal.  When it came to choosing a favorite flavor, it was split, as Savannah loved the Elmo apple flavored cereal, while Arabella was a fan of the Cookie Monster banana flavor.  As for me, I was a fan of both :-)

Having sampled this cereal myself, I have to say that I was impressed with the overall taste of the cereal.  It was not too sugary sweet, while the flavor was spot on.  I found myself reaching for another handful during breakfast time, when the girls were enjoying a bowl of their Post Sesame Street cereal of choice.

So, when I heard that Post was adding Big Bird to their Sesame Street cereal, and that the flavor would be strawberry, I had to get a box for the girls and I to try.  Just like when they saw Elmo and Cookie Monster on the front of the box, both girls' eyes lit up and they smiled as they yelled out Big Bird, while pointing to the popular Sesame Street character on the box.  :-)

Little tidbit of information, Carol Spinney, who draws Big Bird and a few other Sesame Street characters, as well as provides their voices, lives in the town next to me, in Woodstock, CT.  And, from time to time, he comes to my town for downtown art and special events, where he sells his original drawings, has an autograph signing and chats with fans.  We took the girls last month when Carol Spinney was in town, and had him autograph an original drawing for the girls, as well as take time to pose with them.  Even though Savannah and Arabella didn't know who he was, as he wasn't in character, they could point out and tell him who the different Sesame Street characters were.  I can't wait until they get older to show them the photo with Mr. Spinney, as well as the autographed drawing. :-)

Well, you know how kids say the darnedest things?  While we were meeting Mr. Spinney and talking to him about Sesame Street and the characters he draws and plays, Savannah chimed in on the conversation to let Mr. Spinney know that she got a new box of strawberry flavored cereal, made by Big Bird. At first, Mr. Spinney didn't know what she was talking about.  But, then I told him it was from Post Cereal.  Savannah rubbed her belly and said, "Yum. Tastes good!" as I was telling him that this and the other two Sesame Street cereals from Post were her favorites.  Gone are the days of oatmeal in the AM.  Now, she only wants her Sesame Street cereal from Post, along with cold milk. :-)  And, how can I say "No" as it gives me a good excuse to stand at the counter and pick on the cereal, too. :-)

So, if you are looking for an all-natural oat based cereal that is not only wholesome, but offers 2/3 of a toddler's daily whole grains serving, then you will have to look for Post Sesame Street Cereal the next time you go food shopping.  The fun X and O shapes are small enough to fit in your toddler's hand, and they melt in their mouth, which is great for beginner eaters.  I don't have to worry about Arabella choking on the cereal, as it starts melting as soon as it hits your tongue. :-)  This cereal also "contains nutrients that help support healthy brain development."    Instead of reaching for another box of sugary cereal, which only gets kids hyper and adds to their waistline, why not pick up one or all three flavors -- strawberry, apple and banana -- which come in colorful cereal boxes with your child's favorite Sesame Street characters, Big Bird, Elmo and Cookie Monster?

Since trying the new strawberry flavored cereal from the Post Sesame Street cereal line, I am happy to say that both girls (and I) are fans of this flavor.  They keep asking for this flavor for breakfast, and even to pick on as a snack.   Hopefully Post will continue to add more cereal flavors to this popular kid's cereal line.  I know two girls who would love to see Abby Cadabby or Oscar the Grouch on a box of cereal.

Have you and your child(ren) tried any of the three Post Sesame Street cereals?  If so, what did you think of them?  Does your family have a favorite of the three flavors?  Please share your comments below, as I would love to hear what you think of this tasty cereal. :-)
