New to DVD from Shout! Factory: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 2, Vol. 2 -- 3 DVD Set (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this DVD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views shared are mine and mine alone.

Synopsis:

"Tired of Rita Repulsa’s failure to dominate the Earth, her boss, Lord Zedd, steps in to take matters into his own hands. Determined to rid the universe of the Power Rangers once and for all, Zedd has at his disposal an entire arsenal of monsters created with his own personal touch and inspired by Earthly plants and animals. To battle this new villain who is twice the evil tyrant Rita was, the Power Rangers are imbued with new and greater powers, along with new Zords modeled after mythological creatures — the Thunderzords. The Power Rangers are joined by new friends and new Rangers, including the powerful White Ranger, a ferocious hero armed with Saba, the talking sword, and the mighty White Tigerzord."

My Thoughts:

My husband was a huge Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan back in the day, when this show first aired back in the early 90's   And, since then, along with droves of all Power Ranger fans, he has collected DVDS and watched past episodes whenever he is looking to get nostalgic, or for a way to relax.  Anyways having been a fan of kung fu and martial arts, he was drawn to this action packed television series, which followed 5 young adults who were able to morph into superheroes, to fight crime.  The characters were not only equipped with accessories and special skills, but they had some great martial art skills that made this show popular among the tween/teen audiences, as well as the younger children during its long-run in 60+ countries.

The other day my husband was looking for something to do to pass time while the girls and I slept off our colds.  There wasn't anything on television that caught his eye, so I thought I would surprise him with this recent 3-DVD release.  I was going to hold off until Father's Day to surprise him with this DVD set, but knew it would keep him entertained as the girls and I rested.  And, did it!  By the end of the weekend, my husband had watched all 3 DVD's, which totalled 26 episodes from this popular series.  While each episode was about 18 minutes in length, it was jam packed with action and adventure, all while teaching viewers about teamwork, friendship, helping one another and being responsible.

Don't ask me which of the 26 episodes my husband enjoyed most, as like any Power Rangers fans, he will say he loved them all! What my husband did say when I asked him about this new DVD, compared to the other Shout! Factory Power Rangers DVD's is that this one contained "The Wedding," a 3-part story where Lord Zedd marries Rita Repulsa.  In addition Jason, Zack and Trini leave the show and are replaced by Rocky, Adam and Aisha.  My husband found it hard seeing his old favorite Power Rangers leave and be released, and said the show was never the same after this change.  But, this iconic show will always remain one of his favorite, and one show that he will continue to watch past episodes, to relive the fun and excitement he experienced when watching this series back in the early 90's.
