My Thoughts:

Boy, am I feeling old as I watch childhood favorites shows, which have recently released (or will be releasing) to DVD.  Back in High school I used to watch Hey Dude on Nickelodeon.  Did you watch this show, which revolved around a group of teens working at the Bar None, a dude ranch, owned by Mr. Ernst?  It included characters like Melody, the beautiful blonde lifeguard played by Christine Taylor (AKA Ben Stiller's wife), Brad, the rich horse instructor played by Kelly Brown, Danny, a Native American played by Joe Torres, and Ted, the good looking bad boy played by David Lascher. The series followed this group of teens over several summers working on the ranch.

This recent DVD release includes all 14 episodes which make up the 4th season of this popular show. This show had five season in total. I remember rushing off the bus just to make it in time for Hey Dude, as we didn't have DVR's back then, and I didn't like setting the VCR timer. :-)  Out of all the 5 seasons, I have to say that Season 4 was my favorite, as so much happened -- Danny becoming a cartoonist for a local newspaper, to Ted running away from summer school to return to the ranch, and Mr. Ernst considering selling the Bar None, and the gang rallying together to raise money to keep the ranch running.

This past weekend, I watched all 13 episodes over two days.  I would put on the DVD when the girls went to bed.  My husband, having never seen this show, thought it was cheesy, and wondered why I was watching.  But, halfway through the third episode, he was hooked on this now cult sitcom, and sat and watched the remaining episodes with me. It was nice to reminisce about the show, and share some of my favorite Hey Dude episodes with my husband.  I can't wait for the 5th and final season to release from Shout! Factory, to watch with my husband, a new Hey Dude fan. :-)
