While enjoying a nice Mother's Day brunch at my house this past weekend with family and friends, I surprised guests with a Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee tasting party. :-) I was selected to take part in the Dunkin' Donuts In-Home Parties Programs, sponsored by Mom Central Consulting and Dunkin' Donuts. As a party host, I was sent a gift bag for guests, which included a Dunkin' Donuts coupon to save on an upcoming purchase of one of their new seasonal coffee flavors -- available only at your local grocery store, as well as an 11 oz. ground coffee bag of one of the 3 new seasonal flavors, and a plastic Dunkin' Donuts tumbler to enjoy freshly brewed iced coffee in.
While the majority of guests were fans of coffee, only a handful said they enjoy iced coffee (either year round or during the spring/summer months) and/or flavored coffee. But, everyone was up for trying the three new flavors from Dunkin' Donuts, which included, Triple Berry, Strawberry Shortcake and Coconut.
Prior to the guests arriving, I sent my husband to the local Dunkin' Donuts to pick up a box of jo, along with boxes of assorted donuts and munchkins for guests to enjoy. The reason I bought the box of jo was to show those who don't like flavored coffee or iced coffee for that matter, how they compare to their ordinary cup of jo. :-) Also, for the few who may not like the flavored coffee, they could still enjoy a hot cup of coffee, thanks to the box of jo. :-)
Before the sampling began, I went around the room and asked family and friends to share how they like their coffee -- decaf, dark, flavored, iced, etc. We had a diverse group, as everyone liked their coffee a certain way. It was going to be interesting to see and hear their reactions when I began passing out flavored iced coffee samples from Dunkin' Donuts. I had used the iced coffee recipe that was sent along with my party pack, which was similar to the one used in Dunkin' Donuts shops. I wanted to make sure I wasn't whipping together an iced coffee drink guests wouldn't be able to order and enjoy when visiting their favorite local Dunkin' Donuts shop.
For me and a few other guests with young children, we don't have the luxury of getting in the car and driving to Dunkin' Donuts whenever we feel like it for a hot/cold cup of coffee. Instead, we rely on bags of ground Dunkin' Donuts coffee, which is available for purchase at our local grocery stores. While we all agreed that when you have children, the thought of being able to enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the AM is near to impossible, just being able to brew up a pot of Dunkin' Donuts coffee, not only makes the house smell good, but is great to turn into an iced coffee in the warmer months, or tastes good even after multiple microwave reheats. :-)
We had a blast sampling the three new flavors. And, surprisingly, we all agreed that we liked the Coconut the best. This was shocking, as we all commented on how we didn't think we would like this flavor prior to tasting it. But, it offered just the right amount of sweetness, that made for a great iced coffee. Those who didn't care for iced coffees prior to this tasting party, have since changed their mind -- as they poured themselves another cup of this and the other iced coffee drinks I made with the 3 new flavors, which are only available for a limited time in grocery stores.
The fruity flavors really got us all excited about the upcoming summer and warmer weather, as we sipped away in our new plastic iced coffee cups, thanks to the folks at Dunkin' Donuts, and shared our plans for summer trips and things we hope to do this year with the family. One thing is for sure -- we will all be pulling into a local Dunkin' Donuts when we see one in our travels, to enjoy a freshly brewed iced coffee! :-)
Are you a fan of iced coffee or flavored coffee? If so, make sure you pick up one or all three of these seasonal coffee flavors from Dunkin' Donuts, available for a limited time, to try at home. I can't wait to see which one is your favorite -- Triple Berry, Strawberry Shortcake or coconut. Make sure you leave a comment below and let me know. :-)
Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Dunkin' Donuts. I received a Dunkin' Donuts Party Kit to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
