Inception Media Group Proudly Presents
Wiener Dog Nationals

In a Dog Eat Dog World … There’s Only One Wiener!

Family-Friendly Comedy Wags its Tail on DVD & VOD July 2nd

Synoposis:

"An underdog and her family ban together to advance through the cutthroat world of the nation’s greatest wiener... more dog race in the family-friendly comedy Wiener Dog Nationals, racing onto DVD and VOD July 2 from Inception Media Group.

A boy and his family adopt a runt of a dachshund from the local shelter and name her Shelly in honor of shelter dogs everywhere. Despite all odds, Shelly surprises the boy’s father (Jason London, Jason and the Argonauts, Dazed and Confused) when she places in the state trials of Wienerschnitzel's illustrious Wiener Dog Nationals race.

The family pools all of its resources to advance to the next round only to face strong opposition from the reigning champion, Princess, and her owner Ms. Merryweather (Morgan Fairchild, Fashion House, Flamingo Road). Meanwhile, judge Melanie (Alicia Witt, 88 Minutes, Two Weeks Notice) is banned from the race by the head judge (Bryan Batt, Funny People, AMC’s Mad Men) when she tries to help the family prove that Ms. Merryweather is cheating.

Relying only on her skill and her young owner’s passion, little Shelly and her new family must face the challenge of advancing through the cutthroat world of the nation’s greatest wiener... more dog race. One race. One nation. One wiener!

Wiener Dog Nationals is presented in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 16 x 9 (1.78:1) and Dolby Digital 5.1."

My Thoughts:

This past weekend I had my nieces over for a slumber party with Savannah and Arabella.  Usually when they come to visit and stay over, I love having movie night, where we order pizza, make popcorn and snacks, and settle in on the couch to watch a good family friendly movie.  And, this past weekend was no different.  Just a few days earlier, I had received a screener copy of Wiener Dog Nationals to review.  This G-rated movie couldn't have come at a better time, as I was looking for just the right movie to watch.

When I showed the DVD to the girls, they all said in unisen "Ahhh, how cute," as they looked at the dachshund dogs on the cover.  If you follow my blog, then you know that I have a soft spot for dogs, especially rescue dogs.  Up until last year, we had 3 rescue dogs, but had to put two down due to health issues.  So, now we only have Lily, our silky terrier, maltese mix.  She is the same size as the weiner dogs on the cover, which the girls pointed out.

As we settled in to watch the movie, we had no idea what we were in store for.  I told everyone that this was a family comedy about a Wiener Dog Nationals Race, making everyone curious and want to watch it.  At only 82 minutes, it was just the right length for my girls to watch it and stay engaged from start to finish.  While Savannah and Arabelle were more excited to see the cute litter wiener dogs, my nieces told me at the end of the movie, that the storyline was good, and said they enjoyed it a lot.  Adults will be familiar the adult characters in the film, which include Alicia Witt, Jason London and Morgan Fairchild.  I have to say that I found this cute family film to be fun to watch, and found myself laughing throughout the film.  I was even rooting on Shelly, the underdog, and hoped she won the prestigious Wiener Dog National Race.  Don't worry, I will not spoil the ending for you -- you will just have to pick up a copy of this film when it releases to DVD on July 2nd. :-)  This is one family film worth picking up to share with your family -- including toddler and young children.  These dogs will definitely melt your heart -- and may leave you wanting to adopt one. So, beware that your children  may ask about adding a dog to the family. :-)
