This past winter, the girls and I have found ourselves under the weather and passing colds back and forth pretty much from Dec. through March. In years past, we would take advantage of the maple house tours and breakfasts in our areas. But, this year, we didn't make it out to the local sugar shacks. Thankfully, I stumbled upon ROUGE online as I as gearing up for my Mother's Day gift guide, and was sent a sampling of their signature premium Rouge organic maple syrup, as well as their Rouge Salad Dressing Bistro Combo to try. If I didn't have maple syrup on the brain, I don't think I would have stumbled across this company and all their delicious maple syrup products. :-)
"Born from the sap of majestic maple trees in pristine Notre-Dame-Des-Bois, Quebec, Canada, ROUGE brings you the best maple syrup you've ever tasted...ROUGE 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup. One taste was all it took and they knew this incredibly flavorful, yet delicately clean tasting, pure organic maple syrup needed to be shared with the world." I am so glad that I had the chance to try out their products, as I now a fan of ROUGE maple syrup and will not be buying any other. After sampling their 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup, it makes me wonder what I was consuming before -- probably just a lot of added sugar syrups, as they didn't taste as great as ROUGE. :-)
As you know, I love to get into the kitchen and cook and bake, making family favorites, recreating dishes I have tried in restaurants and inventing new ones using ingredients such as maple syrup. And, now Savannah acts as my handy helper in the kitchen, helping me "stir, stir, stir" and taste testing all the ingredients. It is funny...She is such a picky eater when it comes to trying to get her to eat or try new foods. But, when she is in kitchen baking with me, she loves to sample all the ingredients, and has to try the finished product, each and every time. So, when I was looking for a way to incorporate ROUGE 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup in a recipe, she first had to try out the syrup. Not a breakfast person, she had missed tasting this amazing maple syrup when I served up pancakes on the weekends. This is when I experienced and fell in love with the ROUGE 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup -- and, the main reason why I declared Saturday's as "Pancake Breakfast Day" in our house. I know...it was a sorry excuse to be able to enjoy this delicious maple syrup...but, it worked, as my husband and youngest daughter would always look forward to pancakes and warm maple syrup come the weekend. :-)
But, Savannah had to wait until she got in the kitchen to bake me to see what she had missing out on. After dipping her finger in the ROUGE 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup and giving it a lick, she exclaimed, "It's good!" before double dipping. :-) And, throughout on baking experience, in which we made blueberry maple syrup muffins, she continued to dip away, making sure to get every last drop out of the bowl of maple syrup and licking her lips.
I love how the blueberry maple syrup muffins cooked up. And, with the addition of ROUGE 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup, it brought it to another level. Everyone who had one of my muffins, couldn't stop talking about how rich and flavorful the maple syrup tasted, and made the muffin moist. I can't help but agree with them! :-) There is something about baking with maple syrup and how it makes the house smell so good. Even though we missed Maple Syrup Weekends in CT this past year, it felt like I recreated the experience by baking up my now popular blueberry maple syrup muffins. :-)
When I wasn't enjoying ROUGE 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup over pancakes or incorporating into recipes, I was loving the Rouge Salad Dressing Bistro Combo, which included "Dijon Mustard and Maple Dressing" and "Maple Raspberry Dressing" with salads. I was surprised at how much I loved these two dressings, as I am usually a Cesar or Blue Cheese dressing girl. It was something about the maple syrup and spices that are used in these dressings, that really wowed my taste buds. I found myself wanting to eat salad for lunch and dinner, just to drizzle these dressings over them. :-) And, if it wasn't for Easter dinner at my house, where I served up salad, with these dressings on the side, I would still have some ROUGE salad dressings to enjoy today. But, I am happy that I was able to share my love for ROUGE with family and friends, as they all loved the salad dressings and my muffins which were made with ROUGE 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup. I will definitely be stocking up on more maple syrup, as well as trying out their other gourmet products, and will be surprising those I love with ROUGE products for their birthdays and special occasions, like Mother's Day! :-)
