Just in Time for Spring/Summer Travel -- Kidz Gear, Volume Limit Headphones for Kids -- Review and #Giveaway

Disclosure: I was sent a sample from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views I share are mine and mine alone.

One of the best investments we have made for long car rides is a DVD for the backseat.  When we are not listening to kid-friendly music in the car, I let the girls take turns choosing a movie to watch when we are driving long distances.  Not only does it keep them entertained, but it also cuts down on the "Are we there yet?" questions. :-)  But, I have found that Arabella doesn't last the entire movie, and ends up falling asleep.  When this happens, I have to turn down the volume of the DVD, to keep from waking her.  But, then Savannah, always chimes in "Turn up, please."  It is like clockwork, every time she sees me reaching for the remote.  Even though I know she can still hear the movie, she prefers to have it the volume it started at. Go figure!  So, I have been looking for kid-friendly headphones that I could place on her, so that she can still enjoy her movies, at the movie she likes, without worrying about her turning up the volume too high, or breaking the headset trying to put on and take off.

My search led me to the Kidz Gear website, where I found out that they offer volume limit headphones in a variety of fun colors for kids.  Upon reaching out to them, they sent along a pair of their pink Kidz Gear headphones, as well as a black carry bag and Stereo Headphone Splitter cable for me to review.

I was not sure what Savannah would do when I put the headphones as, as she never worn a pair.  Not wanting to scare her with the sound, I let her wear them for a little bit.  Then, I told her I had a surprise for her, and said to listen as I plugged the headphones into the television.  I watched as she smiled and got excited.  She had no idea how the sound was traveling from the television through the cables and into her ears.  "Wow" she said, as she stood there.  When I tried to take the Kidz Gear headphones off, she fought me to keep them on, as she liked not only how comfortable they were, but how she was able to control the sound herself.  So, I let her wear them a little bit longer, as she finished watching one of her favorite shows.

Once the headphones came off, I showed her they were able to fold up flat for easy transport, and could be stored in the black carry bag.  Savannah loved helping me fold up the headphones, and I didn't have to worry about them breaking, as they are more durable than most headphones for kids out there.  And, for the better part of the afternoon, Savannah walked around the house with her headphones in the black bag.  I had told her that the next time we went on a car ride to do errands, she could use her new Kidz Gear headphones to watch her movies on the DVD player, she couldn't wait.  So, she waiting and waiting.  We ended up having my husband take her out that night around the neighborhood, just so she could try out her headphones. :-)

I am so glad that I stumbled across the Kidz Gear website, and was able to try out their volume limit headphones made especially for kids ages 2-12 years of age, and will be picking up another pair for Arabella to have for the car. :-)  Are you planning any summer car travel, and will be letting your children watch DVD movies, play with the iPod, iPad, etc.?  You will want to make sure you have headphones ready for them to use, to keep the peace with their siblings and keep you sane. :-)  And, at only $19.99 a pair, you can't go wrong!
