My daughters and I have been eagerly awaiting the release of Barbie in the Pink Shoes since I found out over the holidays that it would be arriving on VD and Blu-Ray (for the first time) on February 26th. And, when I found out we would be receiving a screener copy and surprise, we were over the moon with excitement. This past Monday, I received the DVD of this new release and Babrie doll to enjoy with the girls. Savannah saw me taking the DVD out of the box, and asked when she could watch it. Because her sister was still sleeping, I told her she had to wait until Arabella was up, and then we would watch it. I wish you could have seen Savannah, as she paced the hallway, waiting for Arabella to wake up, until she got bored and tired, and moved to the couch to wait.
When Arabella finally awoke, Savannah informed her of the Barbie DVD. I wanted to wait until Arabella was up before showing them the Barbie doll surprise. In addition to this new Barbie release, I was sent the Barbie® as Kristyn Farraday™ 2-in-1 Doll for the girls. Here is a photo I snapped after taking the DVD and Barbie doll out of the box. Arabella snatched up the DVD, while Savannah chose the doll and spent a few minutes studying it in the box, before asking me to remove it. :-)
Here is more about the this fun 2-in-1 Doll:
"BARBIE™ in The Pink Shoes – Barbie® as Kristyn Farraday™ 2-in-1 Doll. In the new movie Barbie™ in The Pink Shoes, Barbie® stars as Kristyn Farraday™, a beautiful ballerina whose magical pink shoes take her into a fantasy world of ballet. This doll captures her dramatic transformation from the movie with a pirouette-style fashion change that twirls from an elegant purple and blue to a stunning pink and red dancing costume. A rose tiara and sparking pink shoes complete her fantastical look that literally leaps from the screen."
After the girls took turns playing with their new Kristyn Farrady Barbie doll, we snuggled up together on the touch to watch Barbie in The Pink Shoes. But, like other animated Barbie movies we have watched in the past, as soon as the song and dance started, the girls were off the couch and front and center in the living, dancing and spinning around to the music. They would take breaks here and there, but for the most part would stay standing watching the beautiful ballerina dancing in her magical pink shoes.
Once the movie was over, Savannah quickly asked, "Again, again?" I told her we would watch it another day, but that she and Arabella could continue playing with their new Barbie® as Kristyn Farraday™ 2-in-1 Doll, and other Barbie dolls that they had pulled out of their toy chest, while I prepared supper. The girls and I loved how with a simple twist of Barbie's waist, you can switch up her skirt from pink to blue. Oh, and do they love her sparkling pink ballet slippers! :-) And, when Daddy walked in the door, Savannah began talking a mile a minute, filling him in on what he had missed, and how pretty the Barbie princess was in her magic pink shoes.
Even though we have only had this movie for less than a week, we have already seen it a handful of times. This is one Barbie DVD worth picking up and adding to your child's collection. And, it will be a movie that will be watched and enjoyed over and over again. :-)
So, with Easter right around the corner, why not pick up this DVD and Barbie Doll today, and surprise your little ballerina with it? She will be dancing around pretending to be Kristyn Farraday, as she watches this new release in the ever popular series of animated Barbie movies.
Disclosure: I was sent a DVD copy and Barbie doll from the vendor, in order to write up an honest review. The views above are mine and mine alone.
