 My Thoughts:
I was looking for a cute book to give to Arabella this Valentine's Day and finally found the one for her -- "Clifford's First Valentine's Day."  Even though this is Arabella's 2nd Valentine's Day, she is more aware of holidays and into celebrating, which makes these occasions even more special.  Like I have shared in the past, I like to give a book to each of my daughters on holidays, as a way to instill the love of books and reading at an early age, as well as give me an excuse to cuddle up and read to them (while they are still little and enjoy being snuggled with).

Last week, I shared Valentine's Day themed books for toddlers and older children, but was searching for just the right one for Arabella to enjoy, while still keeping Savannah engaged. Both of my daughters love watching Clifford the Big Red Dog on television daily, and have a few plush Clifford dogs that Nana and Papa gave them.  So, when they saw the board book sent to me to review from the folks at Scholastic, they knew instantly that it was Clifford.  I let Savannah see the book as I was finishing up lunch, and she proceeded to show the book off to Arabella, as if she was participating in a show-and-tell of the book.  Savannah can't read yet, but had fun making up a story to tell Arabella based on the colorful photos.  And, when I finally sat down with after lunch to read the book, they both found it enjoyable.  Savannah's favorite part was when Clifford fell into the laundry bucket and sunk all the way to the bottom.  As I read this part of the story, she kept saying, "Oh, no Clifford."  And, once Clifford was rescued and returned safely to Emily's, she cheered.

You don't have to be a Clifford fan to enjoy this cute story about this fun-loving big red dog, who always seem to get himself into trouble.  The illustrations alone will entertain little ones, who will want to pick up this board book and flip through on their own. I love the small size, as it will fit nicely into my diaper bag, to be pulled out and read while waiting at the doctor's office, in a restaurant, etc. -- anywhere I need to pass the time with the girls while we wait. :-)

So, if you are heading out to pick up last minute greeting cards or gifts for Valentine's Day, why not pick up this board book to share with your little ones?

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this book by the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
