Easter Gift Ideas -- Roma Downey's Little Angels Prayers for Every Day - Review and #Giveaway

About the Book

"Little Angels Prayers for Every Day features more than 50 simple rhyming prayers that cover a typical day and the typical worries of a young child. From waking in the morning to going to sleep at night, from thanking God for a meal to praying for His comfort when afraid, the prayers here will help little ones to see that any moment is a good moment to talk to God. Relevant Bible verses are scattered throughout the book as well!
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) has given their seal of approval and I do too! The faith-based series focuses on eight Little Angels who are guardians, teachers, and companions to twins Alex and Zoe. Throughout each book, children will learn practical lessons, values, and Biblical truths in an engaging and appealing manner.

This book is the perfect way to teach children about prayer and the ways God cares for us each day!"

My Thoughts:
Even though Savannah is still too young to read, we still make a point to try to teach core family values and share faith-based books and movies with her.  And, each night, she kneels down in front of her bed, as we pray as a family.  But, I have been searching for age appropriate books that I could share at bedtime that would help me in talking to Savannah about all the ways God cares for us, and why we thank Him every night with our prayer.
Since Roma Downey introduced her Littlest Angels series, I have been reviewing and collecting her DVDs to share with the girls, and they have become one of Savannah's favorite faith-based educational ls.  So, when I heard that Roma Downey was adding a prayer book to her popular series, I just had to check it out.  And, this afternoon, I received a review copy to share with my daughters.  I took advantage of them both napping to read this upcoming release (arrives in stores on 3/1) cover to cover, and fell in love with the more than fifty rhyming prayers that cover day-to-day worries a young child may experience.  This new release is a board book, which is great for my little ones, as I don't have to worry about them ripping the pages, or Arabella causing damage from stepping on or trying to chew on the book, now that she is teething again and putting everything in sight into her mouth.

I have always loved the illustrations and animated Littlest Angels characters, and this prayer book follows suit with twins, Alex and Zoe, the Little Angels and the adults in their lives, as they give thanks and pray to God for all that he does to care for us each day.  The prayers are short and sweet, and with the rhyming feel, make it fun for young children to want to learn and recite.  Parents can choice to read this prayer book as a story, and discuss each prayer, which is broken down into categories likes: prayers for bedtime, prayers for others, prayers for thanks and prayers for forgiveness.  Or, they can choose to cover a particular section each day/week, and help teach the children these prayers to incorporate in their bedtime or mealtime prayers.

However you choose to use this book with your little ones,it will definitely be a great addition to their library, and a great way to teach them about prayer, relevant Bible verses (which are scattered throughout this board book) and to let them know that God is always there and is listening. And, with Easter right around the corner, this would make a great gift to share in your child's Easter basket. :-)

My Thoughts:

One of my sweets weaknesses has been Krispy Kreme donuts.  Since trying them a few years back down South, I was hooked.  And, then when we moved to CT and saw one at the local casino, I knew I was in trouble. :-)  Even though my husband and I don't go as often to the casino, when we do, we make sure to park in the garage that leads you to the Krispy Kreme store on the way into the casino.  And, like a kid in a candy store, I can't help but look to see if their "hot donuts" sign is lit up

Either way, the smell of fresh glazed donuts lures us in and we always walk away with a dozen assorted donuts.   :-)  But, like I said, now that we have the girls, we don't have the luxury we used to, to enjoy a night out at the casino.  So, when a craving for Krispy Kreme donuts hits, I head to my local grocery store and pick up an assortment of Krispy Kreme products to enjoy. :-)

It must have been hard on my husband while I was pregnant with the girls, as I always craved Krispy Kreme, and even had him drive me to the casino late at night on a few occasions, just for donuts, or hit up our local 24-hour supermarket to satisfy my sweet tooth and cravings. :-)

So, when I heard the other day that Saturday, March 2nd, is National Banana Creme Pie Day, I first thought, Mmm, sounds tasty, and then wondered why I didn't know about it earlier.  Then, the news got even sweeter, as I found out that the folks at Krispy Kreme would be offering a limited edition Glazed Banana KREME Pie, in honor of this national observance.  These pies are only available in participating mass merchants, grocery and convenience stores, while supplies last.  Thankfully, I don't have to track down these tasty pies, as I was sent two today to try out.  Mmm, were they good.  Yes, I know that I am on a diet, but I couldn't resist -- it is National Banana Cream Pie Day coming up and all. :-)  The girls even got in on the fun and helped me with the taste test after lunch, as we split one pie.  You should have saw them both licking their fingers to get up every last drop of the banana KREME.  And, just like Mommy, they loved sucking the banana KREME out of the glazed pie, before devouring the crusty pie outside. :-)  I surprised myself in that I didn't sneak and have the second pie sent.  Instead, I saved it to share with my husband, who also loved it!

So, when you are out and about this Saturday, why not take a few minutes to stop in at your favorite  grocery or convenience store and see if they have these limited edition Glazed Banana KREME pies from Krispy Kreme available, and join the masses in celebrating National Banana Cream Pie Day? :-)

 ----

During my recent Girls' Night In Oscar party, I ended up trying out the first recipe.  I thought it would be fun to try as a few of the girls who were coming over lived with me in college, and would always prepare Ramen noodle meals.  I couldn't believe how easy this recipe was to create and just how tasty it was.  If I hadn't told my girlfriends that these shrimp spring rolls were frozen, they would have thought I had made them myself or bought them fresh at a fish market for the occasion. :-)  But, when one of them stumbled across the empty box, I couldn't keep a secret. :-)
And, since my get together, I have picked up a couple more boxes of these spring rolls to store in the freezer, so I would have them on hand if my husband and I find ourselves craving seafood or shrimp spring rolls -- like tonight, when he arrived home late and wanted to order out to save time cooking in the kitchen.  I told him to entertain the girls for about 15 minutes, and I would have a meal put together.  I ended up making the Ramen Noodle Salad with Spring Rolls recipe again, as he hadn't tried it.  Like my girlfriends, he loved it and couldn't believe the Shrimp Spring Rolls were cooked from a frozen state.  He thought they were full of flavor, and loves the chunks of shrimp he got with each bite.

So, if are a fan of shrimp spring rolls, or always find yourself reaching for the phone to order out in a pinch, why not pick up these or other SeaPak products to have on hand in the freezer.  Prep and cook time is quick and easy, and within 15 minutes, you will have a delicious meal.

Do you find yourself using cleaning products from brands that you grew up watching your Mom use?  I always laugh when my Mom comes to visit and says, "Oh, you also use so and so", or "I used to use that when you were litte," as I still remember telling myself that I would not do the same things she did when I got older.  Well, I was wrong on this account, for many things, including cleaning products.  I guess having seen her use brands like Soft Scrub, I have grown accustomed to knowing that they this brand really does get the job done when cleaning.  So, whenever I am shopping for cleaning products, my eyes always gravitate to familiar products/brands I remember seeing my use.  And, one of these brands was Soft Scrub, which she still uses today.

But, for the first time, when she came to visit last week, she said, "wow, I have never seen that product," referring to the new Soft Scrub Total All Purpose Bath and Kitchen Cleanser.  I had received the new lemon scent cleanser, as part of the Purex Insiders program, and couldn't wait to show it to her.  Usually when I have family and friends visiting, I postpone my weekend cleaning to spend time with them. But, this time, I wanted to put this new product to the test and see how it worked in cleaning the bath and kitchen surfaces.

My mom followed along as I began my cleaning.  She, too, wanted to see if this new cleanser would be able to tackle tough stains and grime.  And, the verdict is in -- it did.  The new Soft Scrub Total All Purpose Bath and Kitchen Cleanser passed with flying colors, and was approved by mother and daughter. :-)  The best feature of this cleanser was that you didn't need to use much elbow grease to clean surfaces, especially bathroom tile and toilets. Not only were the surfaces in both the kitchen and bath, that were cleaned with this new cleanser sparkling, but they smelled of a light lemon scent.

I will definitely be buying more of this cleanser and know someone else who will stock up, too.  And, when other family and friends ask how I get my kitchen and bathroom surfaces so clean, I will not hesitate and tell them I used Soft Scrub Total All Purpose Bath and Kitchen Cleanser. :-)

My Thoughts:

Anything with Kris Kristofferson is a must see movie for me.  Like a fine wine, he seems to get better with age. :-)  Shh, don't tell my husband. :-)  This heartwarming film is one that the entire family will enjoy.  Even though you start to predict what will happen, it is nice to see this wholesome family movie play out.  And, like all movies that deal with families in financial hardship or turmoil, you find yourself rooting for them and hoping that there is a happy ending.  Don't worry, I will not ruin the ending for you. What I will say, however, is that the movie flows nicely and the scenery is simply breathtaking. Definitely a film worth picking up and adding to your family's collection, as it will be watched over and over again.

My Thoughts:

Does your family like to sit down together and watch Hallmark Channel movies?  This was one of my favorite things to do as a child.  I always looked forward to that once a month Sunday Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, that my brothers and I would watch with Mom, while my Dad was working a police detail.  Even though my brothers mainly watched the movies to stay up later -- and, to see my mom cry at each and every movie, I thoroughly enjoyed these heartwarming movies, that always taught wonderful lessons that you could apply to your life.

And, as I got older, I continued to tune in on Sundays when a new Hallmark movie aired, and was giddy when I moved to CT and saw that we received the Hallmark Channel in our television lineup.  I have lost count on the number of Hallmark movies I have seen over the years, but each and every time I have a free moment, I flip to the Hallmark Channel to see what is on, or pop in a DVD of these films, I have acquired over the years.

Even though I saw this upcoming release when it aired on television, it was nice to watch it again -- and, yes, I cried just like my Mom used to, from start to finish.  Luckily, my brothers or husband were around to see me. :-)  I am not going to bore you with a thorough review of this film, as you probably have already seen it, or can get the gist of what it is about in the synopsis above.  All I will say is that this is a great film to watch with the whole family, and that dog-lovers like myself will fall in love with Duke. :-)
