Do you have a pancake or waffle lover in your family? For me, it is my husband. It seems like every weekend he is asking me to whip up a pancake or waffle batter for him to make a hearty breakfast. But, on those mornings where I mustered up enough energy to pull myself out of bed after an up-all-night escapade with the girls, the last thing I want to do is pull out my cookbooks to find a batter recipe. So, on days like these it is nice to have Jack & Jason's pancake and waffle mix in the pantry, to hand my husband. :-) This quick and easy mix contains pure ingredients like whole wheat flour and oats, that makes the pancakes and waffles taste great. And, while you are enjoying your breakfast, you can feel good in knowing that you are getting 40%+ of whole grains per serving. If you are like my husband who is health conscious, he likes to tweak recipes to make them low-cholesterol. And, with this mix you can do just that by using egg whites, canola oil and skim milk.
I have made the batter both ways -- low cholesterol and original -- and, they both come out great. The pancakes and waffles are light and fluffy, and full of flavor. Out of the two flavors I was sent, traditional and pumpkin spice, I have to say my family's favorite was the pumpkin spice. And, now that the cold weather is hear, it made the house smell of fresh baked pumpkin as the pancakes were cooking on the griddle. Mmm, I am getting hungry just thinking about them.
We can't wait to try the three other flavors available from Jack & Jason's, which include -- Banana Nut, Blueberry, Double Chocolate. I can only imagine how chocolately good the double chocolate mix would taste. I would load drizzle warmed chocolate syrup on the top of my pancake stack instead of maple syrup -- but, that is just a chocoholic talking. :-)
So, if you know someone who would go crazy over these dry pancake/waffle mixes, why not surprise them with a few boxes under the tree this year? Or, pick them up and make a nice Christmas morning breakfast, as you enjoy the company of your family at the dining table. :-)
