Feature Friday - ScratchMeNot Flip Mittens (Review and Giveaway)

This past Monday I spotlighted Andrea Thomas, creator of the ScratchMeNot Flip Mittens.  If you missed my interview with her, please click here to read it now -- http://www.inspiredbysavannah.com/2012/12/spotlight-on-mom-andrea-thomas-of-short.html.  Today, I wanted to share more about her baby product, including my own personal experience with it, as well as offer one lucky ready a chance to win the ScratchMeNot Classic - Blue Cars (Any Size) Flip Mittens, thanks to Andrea.

So, what are ScratchMeNot Flip Mittens?

"ScratchMeNots provide a simple solution for those little one who scratch. Whether it's random, or for those with skin irritants, such as eczema or chicken pox, ScratchMeNots prevent skin damage. The unique flip mitten sleeves are designed with the added flexibility to be worn all day or whenever scratching is most prevalent."

My daughter Arabella was a hand sucker from birth.  And, if I was not on top off cutting her nails, she would scratch herself trying to get her hand in her mouth.  So, I had been looking for something besides the mitten they sell in the stores, that would stay in place .  Unfortunately, I had no luck, as all the mittens or products would fall off, or she would bite them off.  I could never leave her side when she had the mittens on as I was afraid they would come loose in her mouth and she would choke on them.

Then, I stumbled across Andrea's product and reached out to her, and asked her to share her story and more about her product. She was kind enough to send along a sample for me to try with Arabella, and I couldn't wait.  Even though Arabella is a year old now, she is back to teething, and the fists are yet again in her mouth.   I was finding her little hands breaking out in a rash from the saliva, leaving them irritated and chapped.  But, once I received these flip mittens from Andrea and I tried them out, I wished I had known about them earlier, as they would have saved me a lot of sleepless night and worrying.

I found it so easy to put on and take off the ScratchMeNot Flip Mittens, and could even do it in the dark, in the middle of the night.  And, when Arabella needed access to her hand to hold her bottom, I was able to flip the mitten open for her hand to be exposed.  What a great feature.  I was afraid I would have to take of the flip mitten just to give her a bottle.  In addition to teething, this flip mitten is great for children with eczema, and will help protect their faces and body from being scratched, when the itchies set in.

Overall, I am so glad that I stumbled across Andrea's website and had a chance to try out her ScratchMeNot Flip Mittens firsthand.  Now, whenever friends ask about a mitten suggestion for their babies/toddlers, I will not hesitate to suggest Andrea's product to them.  And, this flip mitten would make for a great baby shower gift, or gift for a new mom, just to have on hand for peace of mind when the itchies, long nails, etc. cause little ones to scratch.
