Arriving on DVD and Blu-Ray Tomorrow -- Pitch Perfect (Review)

"Beca (Anna Kendrick) arrives at her new college to find herself not right for any clique but somehow muscled into one she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together in this hilarious laugh out-loud comedy, Pitch Perfect. The outrageous and irreverently fun Pitch Perfectpacked with deleted and extended scenes, line-o-ramas, music videos and more, will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, On Demand and Digital Download on December 18, 2012 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

When Beca leads this acoustic singing group out of their traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mashups, they fight to climb their way to the top of college music competitions. This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.  The Pitch Perfect ensemble includes Anna Kendrick (Twilight, Up in the Air), Anna Camp (The Help), Brittany Snow (Hairspray) and Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids, Bachelorette).

Pitch Perfect is “completely hilarious and completely original” – Dean Richards, WGN-TV-WGN America, and is the must-own movie that you’ll want to watch over and over again, just in time for the holidays!

My Thoughts:

Do you love shows like Glee, The Voice, American Idol, etc.?  If so, you will love this movie, which is about a group of college A-Capella groups compete in the A-Capella championships.  This comedy will have you laughing along, as you see an unlikely pairing of girls who make up the Bellas.

This was one movie I really wanted to see in theaters, but missed.  So, when I heard it would be releasing on DVD tomorrow, I knew I had to get my hands on a review copy and see what I was missing.  I am so glad I was able to see this movie finally, as it was well worth the wait.  If you missed Pitch Perfect when it was in theaters, you will definitely want to pick up a copy when it arrives in stores tomorrow.

From the Bellas to the Treblemakers, you will not only be entertained by amazing A-Capella singing, but you will not be able to stop laughing.  Yes, there is some strong language, so it would not suitable for younger audiences.  But, with characters like Fat Amy, who I feel steals the show, you will be entertained from start to finish.  And, like any comedy/chick flick, there is a romance that buds between Beca and Jesse.  Will they pursue this budding romance?  I will not spoil it for you.  Just be warned, you may find yourself singing along to popular songs, as I was. :-)

So, if you are into music competitions, karaoke, etc., then you will love this movie.  This would make for a great stocking stuffer, or date night movie.

And, here is a special treat from USC's Award-Winning A Capella Group, Reverse Osmosis, who sang a medley of holiday songs at the the other night in Santa Monica, CA, in celebration of tomorrow's release of Pitch Perfect on Blu-Ray and DVD --

If this doesn't get you into the holiday spirit, I don't know what will. :-)

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this DVD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
