In the stop-motion special, inspired by the Rankin/Bass specials (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town), Plankton turns everyone in Bikini Bottom from nice to naughty by feeding them his special jerktonium-laced fruitcake - all in an effort to get his Christmas wish, the Krabby Patty formula."

My Thoughts:

We have been listening to this CD around the house the past two days, and love it.  I am always a fan of silly holiday songs, and this new SpongeBob Christmas CD fits the bill.  Even though Savannah doesn't understand this hit animated series on Nickelodeon, she still enjoys tuning in and watching in with her Daddy each evening.

When Savannah saw me listening to the CD on my computer, she came over and grabbed my hand.  She wanted to dance around the living room when she heard "Ho, Ho Hoedown."  What a blast we had having our own little hoedown.  My favorite song is "Snowflakes."  You would not expect a SpongeBob SquarePants CD to feature a touching ballad, but I was surprised when I listened to this song for the first time. With the jingling of bells in the background, this beautiful song is filled with instruments and sounds you would expect from a classic holiday tune.

You don't have to be a fan of the show or know the characters to enjoy this witty holiday CD.  And, both parents and children will enjoy listening to this CD together, which usually isn't the case with children's CDs.  It is hard to find a CD that my husband will muster and listen to with the girls, but after listening to it last night, I caught him singing, "Don't be a Jerk (It's Christmas)" this AM when he was making his coffee.  When I asked what he was singing, he quickly brushed it off.  But, I told him I heard him, and he just laughed.  "Come on," he said, "It is a catchy song, and fun to sing."

The only negative thing that I can think of in regards to this new CD release is that it is only available digitally.  I would love to be able to purchase a hard copy and share with a few family members and friends who love this show and/or love witty Christmas songs.  Maybe eventually this CD will be released in stores.  But, in the meantime, I will be enjoying the digital tracks, and my living room hoedown with my daughter.  Yee hah!!

Disclosure: I was sent a digital copy of this CD from the vendor, in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
