Feature Friday -- Learn’N’Turn Training Utensil (Review and Giveaway)

I love it when I stumble upon parent-invented products, that end up being lifesavers with my kids.  This was the case with the Learn’N’Turn Training Utensil, created by Mike Canapni, a stay-at-home father.  Savannah is learning how to feed herself with utensils, but has difficulty in holding the feeding utensils I picked up.  Either they don't pick up the food, or she can't turn her wrist to get the spoon or fork in her mouth.  When she finds her struggling, she gets discouraged, and doesn't want to use her utensils.  But, when she does get the food on the fork and into her mouth, her eyes light up and she can't help by smile, as she knows she is getting bigger, and doing things a big girl would do.

Not wanting to see her give up so easily after failed attempts with utensils I had on hand, I began scouring the Internet to find just the right feeding utensil.  And, this is when I stumbled upon the Learn’N’Turn Utensil.  I reached out to Mike and he graciously sent along a sample for review, as well as be a Spotlight Dad (click here if you missed my Spotlight on Dad interview with him this past Monday).   The sample couldn't have come at a better time as Savannah was growing restless trying to get her mac and cheese and other favorite slippery foods to stay put on her spoon or fork and get into her mouth.  When I showed her the Learn’N’Turn Utensil, she didn't want anything to do with it.  But, I slowly worked it into her mealtime routine by showing her how easy it made picking up food, and now she doesn't want to use anything else.

We have had the Learn’N’Turn utensil for a couple of weeks now, and I can't get over how much Savannah is enjoying feeding herself, and how much more enjoyable this parent-invented product is making dinner time.  Do you have a young toddler who is learning to feed themselves?  Are they also struggling like my daughter was?  Then, why not pick up the Learn’N’Turn utensil to try with them?  Just imagine how much happier both you and your child will be when they can successfully feed themselves.
