Coming Soon to a Supermarket Near You -- Funny Face Dried Cranberries -- A Healthy Snack the Whole Family Will Enjoy (Review)

"Funny Face Dried Cranberries, by Decas Cranberry of Massachusetts, have ½ the sugar, 5 times the fiber and 1/3 the calories of traditional, sweetened dried cranberries. These delicious little super fruits come in four fun flavors: Rootin’ Tootin’ Raspberry, Choo Choo Cherry, Goofy Grape and Freckle Face Strawberry. Decas is launching Funny Face this fall in select retail chains and on Amazon.com. Funny Face makes a great grab-n-go snack on their own and taste delicious when combined with a bunch of popular foods: oatmeal, cereal, granola, yogurt, peanut butter sandwiches as a low-sugar jelly substitute, salads, smoothies, you name it (great for gifts to foodies)!

One of the coolest things about Funny Face is that Decas has designed an online world dedicated to help support parents who want to feed their children healthier foods – by making the process FUN. Feel free to pop in on our Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest page and/or website for cool recipe ideas, coloring page downloads, funny videos, activity / crafting suggestions, and more!"

My Thoughts:

When we were in Carver, MA two weekends ago, we couldn't help but take noticed of the cranberries that were growing in the bogs along the sides of the road.  Year after year, we can't get enough of this scenic drive to see Thomas the Tank.  While the girls enjoy the day at Edaville USA, my husband and I use it as an excuse to stop at our favorite cranberry bogs and pick up freshly picked cranberries for the fall season.  Last year was the first year Savannah tried dried cranberries and became an instant fan.  We were shocked, as many of you know she is a picky eater.  But, she kept reaching for more samples, and devoured the cranberry orange bread we had bought.  So, when we returned this season, we now had Arabella with us, and were able to enjoy the cranberry bogs together.

I wish I had the camera when Arabella tried a dried cranberry for the first time.  As soon as she put it in her mouth, her lips puckered and she looked shocked.  But, as she began chewing, her puckering pout turned into a smile.  And, like her older sister, she kept asking for more.  So, when I heard about Funny Face and their new line of kid-friendly dried cranberries, I had to request a sample to share with the girls.

Even though Funny Face dried cranberries will not be available until later this fall, I was sent a Fall Preview Pack to enjoy with my family. Look at all that I received (a beach ball, stickers, a t-shirt for Savannah, two bags of Funny Face cranberries, and a few other goodies):

We were sent samples of the Choo Choo Cherry and Freckle Face Strawberry Funny Face dried cranberry snacks to sample.  When I told Savannah the two names, she giggled, and then asked for "choo choo"  The Choo Choo Cherry ones were our family's favorite of the two.  My husband used Funny Face cranberries in his oatmeal, while the girls and I enjoyed them right of the bag or added to a cup of vanilla yogurt.  I can't wait until they are available for purchase, as I want to try these cranberries out in some of my favorite cranberry nut bread recipes, and have on hand to serve guests come Thanksgiving.

If you are looking to introduce healthy snack options with your family, why not give Funny Face cranberries a try.  Not only do they taste great, but they are good for you.  So, keep an eye out for them at your favorite local retailer in the coming weeks, as well as online at Amazon.  You can learn when they are available by following them on Facebook, or visiting the Funny Face Dried Cranberries website.

Disclosure: I was sent samples from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
