My Thoughts:

TITANTIC is by far my favorite film. And, when I heard they were coming out with this film on Blu-ray 2D and 3D, for the first time, on September 10, 2012, I had to get my hands on a copy.  Paramount Home Media Distribution made my day this past Tuesday, when I was sent a copy of TITANTIC on Blu-ray 2D and 3D, along with a couple other TITANTIC goodies (CD and leather bound notebook (which Savannah is using to doodle with).

My parents were here visiting on Tuesday, so when the girls went down for a nap, I invited them in the family room to watch the movie with me.  They were not aware that a new version of the movie was released, so they were in for a treat, as was I .  Now, I am not going to bore you with a review of the movie, as you have probably have seen it (more than once).  I am, however, going to share just how amazing it it when it is set in 3D.

Unfortunately, I didn't make it to theaters this past April when it was re-released, this time in 3D, for all to enjoy. So, when I heard was arriving on Blu Ray this week, I was counting down the days until a review copy was sent to me.

As the film opens and you are brought underwater to see the wreckage, you can tell you are watching this classic movie in a new way.  The images are cleaner and brighter, and as you are brought to the top of the water, this is when the 3D effect begins.  Simply breathtaking and amazing to say the least!  We recently picked up a 3D television and Blu-Ray player, and were waiting for just the right movie to really enjoy this new technology with. TITANTIC 3D did just that.  Even though my parents enjoy this film and will watch it from time to time in pieces when they flip through the channels and land on it on television, they usually wouldn't pull it off the shelf to watch.  But, as soon as the 3D effects began, they were hooked, and couldn't take their eyes of the screen.

My favorite parts of this film, which really added depth and wonder were when Young Rose exited the car and lifted her head up, while wearing the infamous oversized purple hat.  Then, when the movie shows the inner working of the engine room, everything on the screen was crisp and full of detail.  This film makes the previous "ho hum" in my opinion.

Now that I have seen TITANTIC in 3D, I am not sure I can go back and watch the previous versions.  I guess I am spoiled after having watched one of my favorite films in such detail.   What I especially loved is how the black bars are not present in the Blu-Ray 3D version, as they are in the 2D version.  By removing these bars, the film is able to fill the screen and really adds depth to each and every scene.

I am only halfway through the bonus features included in this limited edition Blu-Ray set.  I did get to watch "Titantic" The Final Word with James Cameron", which is a new documentary done for Nat Geo, and gives more insight into how this beautiful ship shank and what details from the 1997 release were wrong.  YOu will feel like a investigator, as you learn about such a few of the theories that have given on how the wreckage got to be the way it was.  This new documentary alone makes this new release worth purchasing.  I found this featurette thoroughly enjoyable.  And, for those who like deleted scenes, this new release includes 30 of them, all with audio introduction from director, James Cameron.  I will not tell you what they are about, as I don't want to spoil this bonus feature with you. But, make sure you spend time watching these deleted scenes.

This weekend, I hope to find time to watch the remaining bonus features, as well as "My Heart Will Go On" video by Celine Dion.  Come on, don't tell me you don't flip through the car radio and when you hear this, turn the radio up and sing along? It has become an anthem of sorts for so many of us. :-)

Overall, I am so happy I was able to watch TITANTIC in 3D, and will definitely be watching it again (and again).  How could you not, once you see it in this format?!  If you missed it in theaters and have a a 3D television and 3D Blu-Ray player, why not pick up this limited edition Blu-Ray set today?  And, if you don't have a 3D television or player, don't fret, as you can also pick up the 2D version, which includes some great bonus features, Titanic fans will love.
