Introducing Village Harvest's New Line of Fully Cooked, Frozen, Pourable From the Bag, Delicious Whole Grains (Review and Giveaway)

Closed. Congrats to: Donna M., Kristie, Kelly T., Sandra W. and Tiffany K.

As a busy mom, I am always looking for shortcuts when it comes to preparing dinner for my family.  Even though I want to cut down on the time I spend in the kitchen cooking, I don't want to sacrifice on flavor or nutritional value.  So, when I was introduced to the new line of fully cooked, frozen whole grains from Village Harvest last month, I couldn't wait to try them out.

First off, let me share the unique flavors available from this new line:

I was sent a 10 ounce package of each to try, and can't get over how fresh and delicious each medley was.  Now, I have tried other frozen and pre-cooked whole grain products in the past, but have been disappointed with the overall taste and texture of them.  Some brands left us thirsty due to the all the added salt and preservatives that were added, while others, when spooned onto the plate, didn't look that appealing to eat, as they clumped together or looked dried out.  But, with Village Harvest's new whole grain medleys, I have a delectable side in minutes, that the whole family will enjoy.  With each and every flavor, we did not have leftovers at the end of the meals.  Instead, my husband usually asked if there was more, as it tasted so good.

If you asked me what are favorite flavors were, it would be different for each member of my family.  For myself, I loved the wild rice with black bean and corn, as I am a fan of black beans.  This was the first time I tried a frozen rice bag with black beans.  I loved how the black beans were not mushy after being frozen and reheated.  And, the rice was moist and didn't clump in the dish.  I served this whole grain side alongside a Parmesan crusted chicken breast, and it really added great flavor to the overall meal.  My husband ended up cutting up the chicken breast and making a wrap with it and the rice blend.  My husband, on the other hand, loved the Quinoa with Cranberries and Almonds.  He loved that it didn't have a salty taste, and how actual slivers of almond were blended into the whole grains.  Who would have thought to add cranberries and almonds to Quinoa?  This was the first time my husband had tried Quinoa, and thanks to Village Harvest, he is hooked.  My parents had a few meals with us, where I had served Village Harvest's whole grain medleys, and both loved the Wheatberry and Barley blend.

Do you have any dietary restrictions? Not to worry, as Village Harvest's medleys cater to your needs.  Their whole grains are free of cholesterol and are sodium-free.  And, for those with gluten allergies, their Red Quinoa & Brown Rice, Golden Quinoa, Brown, Red and Wild Rice and Corn and Black Bean Creations, don't contain wheat.  As for fiber, every serving of Village Harvest has at least 4 grams of fiber.  That is 16% of the recommended daily amount.  Brown rice has been proven to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers, all while offering essential fats and oils, magnesium, selenium, phosphorus, iron, manganese and B-Vitamins.  So, as you can see, not only is Village Harvest medleys great tasting, they are also good for you.  And, as a mom who is always looking to provide nutritious and easy to prepare meals, I am so happy to have found this new frozen whole grain product line.  Now, I don't have to wonder what I can serve up alongside my chicken, fish and vegetable dishes. And, these whole grain medleys are great when added to stews and salads.

Haven't tried the new line of Village Harvest Whole Grain Creations and Whole Grain Medleys for yourself?  What are you waiting for?  Head to your local grocery store and pick up a package or two from their frozen food aisle.  You will glad that you did.  And, I guarantee that not only will you be impressed with the ease in preparing these packaged whole grain sides, but you will love the flavor of each unique blend.
