My Thoughts:

This was another movie I really wanted to see on the big screen, but missed.  So, when I heard it was coming to DVD, I made note, so that I could finally see this award winning and widely talked about film of 2011.  Hugo is definitely a movie that will appeal to both children and adults alike.  My parents ended up going to see it last year in the theaters, and couldn't stop raving about it.

If you are a fan of fantasy films, films by acclaimed director, Martin Scorsese, or love seeing books brought to the big screen, then you will love Hugo.  I received an advance copy of this DVD yesterday, and couldn't wait until this weekend to see it.  So, after dinner, we popped this DVD in the DVD player and watched it.  My parents are down for a couple of days, so it was nice sharing this movie going experience with them.  Savannah was in awe of the magical world that Hugo set off to explore.  While watching the film, I wished I could have gone on this thrilling adventure.  And, once the movie was over, I could see why it was considered one of the best movies in 2011.  I kept finding myself on the edge of my seat, trying to take in the beauty of this film.

I was impressed yet again by the acting of Ben Kingsley, and was surprised at the performance given by Sasha Baron Cohen, who is usually extreme and out there.  And, like many wholehearted films, I needed the tissues next to me.  Just thinking about this movie, I am finding it hard to compare other family films I recently saw to this.  This movie exceeded my expectations and has instantly become a family favorite that we will be watching over and over again.  If you are looking for a great way to spend time with your family, or just want to forget about the world around you for a couple of hours, this Hugo is the movie for you.

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this DVD by the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
