Ava the Elephant Medicine Dispenser (Review)

If you ever tried giving a young child medicine from a medicine dropper or spoon, then you know how difficult it is –and time consuming.  Not only is it stressful for you, but it also stresses and upsets your child.  Being a new parent, I found this out first hand back in 2010 when my then 3 week old daughter, Savannah, needed surgery and was sent home with directions to administer pain medicine via a dropper every 4 hours.  And, since that time, it hasn’t gotten any easier when she gets sick or is teething, and needs medication to make her feel better.  Recently, after her little sister (who ended up needing the same stomach surgery for pyloric stenosis) was released from the hospital, not only did she come home not feeling well due to surgery, but also brought home a nasty head cold that lasted over a month in our house.  We kept passing it back and forth to one another, and finally kicked it with antibiotics.  At the first attempt to give my daughter liquid antibiotics, she spit it out.  Then, I had my husband try, and she wouldn’t even open her mouth.  Luckily, a week before, I had received Ava the Elephant in the mail to review.  So, I quickly pulled the cute medicine dispenser out of its packaging and filled the dropper with juice.  I didn’t want to scare Savannah off with the first attempt, so I thought the use of her favorite juice would make her see that the medicine dispenser was a fun and playful thing.

After using juice a few times in the dropper, I added her medicine to it, and surprising she took it.  Now that she associated Ava the Elephant as something positive, it has helped making dispensing liquid medicine so much easier.  I just love the cute elephant and ease in using this product.

So, if you have young children at home who are difficult to give medicine to, why not pick up Ava the Elephant and try it with them today.  You will be surprised at how they take to this product, and how it will make your life so much easier, when it comes to giving medicine, and even vitamin drops to you child.  I am now using it daily to dispense Savannah’s Fluoride.
