Follow-Up to Member's Mark 4X Probiotic Experience -- Results Seen After Just 2 Weeks

I have been sampling Member's Mark 4X Probiotic, a digestive care supplement for about 2 weeks now, after having picked it up at Sam's Club for $28.88.

I have to say, after tried other probiotic products, this product really holds up against the competition and prescription-required medications.  During this pregnancy, I have had a lot of tummy trouble, and have been switching over-the-counter remedies the entire time.  Go figure that it takes until the last few weeks to find the product that works best for me.  But, now I know what works and can continue to use this once our second arrives next week.  Like I said in my previous post (click here if you missed my shopping experience and background on digestive health issues), I began having "tummy troubles" after undergoing cancer treatment two years ago.  As a result, the only relief I have found has been through probiotic supplements.  And, once I find one that works, I can usually never find it in stores, or it becomes too expensive.  Or, it begins to stop working, as I have built up a tolerance to you.  So, I have been searching for the right product for me, and was excited to try out the Member's Mark 4X Probiotic only available at Sam's Club

And, compared to its competitor, Align, which I have also tried and retails for $35.27, this one really works!

I will definitely continue to use this product after my pregnancy, as it has provided must needed relief to the "tummy troubles" I experience.  If you have digestive health issue ("tummy troubles") and either have never tried a probiotic supplement, or can't find one that works best for you, I highly suggest heading to Sam's Club and picking up a bottle of Member's Mark 4X Probiotic to try.  It is well worth the investment to feel "normal" again.  Take it from me.  I feel like a whole new person just after two weeks of using Member's Mark 4X Probiotic .

My family & friends have always been a big part, from bouncing off style idea's to help with publicity

What is next for your business?
Next for the business, is that we get the sweaters on the a show like Nate Berkus or Rachael Ray.  Again more sweaters sold more money for Charity

Advice  I heard a quote once (don;t know who quoted it)  "Behind every successful woman is her self"
I believe you should love what you do.

Spotlight on Mommy -- Andrea Van Ness of Thumbuddy To Love

This week's Spotlight on Mommy is Andrea Van Ness, owner of Thumbuddy to Love. Thumbuddy To Love is a positive teaching tool along with an illustrated story book, thumb puppet and success chart to help stop thumb sucking. The thumb puppet can be worn day or night and is a positive reminder of the importance to stop thumb or finger sucking. The book includes a calendar with stickers, so children get involved, marking off days they do not suck their thumb/fingers.  Just look at the cute characters she created to help your little one give up the thumsucking habit.

In addition to the these two characters, Andrea also created the Binky Fairy to help those children who are still using their pacifier or binky, give up the habit.

Andrea sent me the Binky Fairy, and I will be sharing my review of this product with you on Friday, so head back then to learn more.

But, in the meantime, please enjoy my interview with Andrea.

Name:  Andrea Van Ness
Company Name/Product/Service: Thumbuddy To Love
Company Location: Boulder, Colorado
Company Website:  www.ThumbuddyToLove.com
Twitter Handle: @ ThumbuddyToLove
Age of Company:  3 years
Favorite Inspirational Quotes: Live today as if it were your last. Enjoy the little things!
Favorite Book: Too many to list!! But I just read Let My People Go Surfing by Yvon Ghouinard

Tell us a little bit about yourself.  How many children do you have?  What are their ages? Your hobbies? Etc.

I  am the creator of Thumbuddy To Love… products to help stop thumb sucking and pacifier sucking. I live with my 9 year old son. We love to ski, hike and enjoy travel.

Briefly explain your business.  How did it come about?

It all started 3 years ago as a response to thumb suckers that needed help breaking the thumb sucking habit because everything out there was shameful and negative for little thumb suckers. I was a thumb sucker and my grandmother made me a thumb puppet and I took it everywhere…even to school. I stopped in a week. As I was researching products out there, I noticed a great need for something positive for kids that they could feel good about to help them stop thumb sucking and finger sucking so that is how Thumbuddy To Love came to be and I wrote the books and created Thumbuddy To Love™. Then, after the first products were launched, I realized pacifier suckers needed help too so I developed The Binky Fairy to help children wean from their pacifier with ease.

What is a typical work day like?

Busy with orders, marketing, meetings and being a mom after school lets out.

What has been a struggle while starting up your company?

Just getting the products to all come together. There was a lot of trial and error but finally found a great manufacturer and it all fell into place.

What did you do in your past work life?

I was a realtor.

What have been some of your major successes?

Yes, Thumbuddy To Love won a Moms Choice Award and has been featured on lots of news media including the Wall Street Journal.

What have been some of your major challenges?

Really nothing major….just getting the word out to Moms who need help with their little thumb suckers and paci suckers. We do a lot of blogging and then the word spreads.

On those impossible days, what motivates you to keep going?

The fact that there is a better way to quit thumb sucking because a lot of people rely on thumb polishes that taste bitter to break the habit and those have a lot of chemicals in them so rather than introduce that to a child, Thumbuddy is a much better solution. Also, our new product, The Binky Fairy is the only book out there that comes with their very own Binky Fairy. It is now available on Amazon.

What is your balancing secret in managing a business and family?

Do what you love and spend quality time with your family

What is next for your business

We now use Kangen Water® in our office and have become distributors of that as well. It is the best healing water and alkaline water on the market. People stop by just to drink it!

Do you have any advice for other mom entrepreneurs that are starting out and struggling, or are on the fence about starting a business?

Ask a lot of questions and if it feels right, do it!

Feature Friday: Mrs. Pinkelmeyer, a Fun Character Created by Mom Entreprenuer and Recent Spotlight Mommy, Jennifer Kelman

This past Monday, I shared my Spotlight on Mommy interview with Jennifer Kelman with you all. She created Mrs. Pinkelmyer, a fun and silly Mrs. Know-It All, who helps children feel comforted through laughter.  If you missed my Spotlight Interview with Jennifer, click here to read it now.

Jennifer kindly sent me a copy of her book, Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus McGlinden Burn the Rrrrump Rrrroast to review and share my thoughts with you. This is the first in the children's book series highlighting the adventures of Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and her lovable dog Moopus. This fresh and funny tale is charmingly illustrated and will leave you and your child with a grin from ear to ear.

Summary of Book:

Meet the Silliest, Warmest Know-It-All™, Mrs. Pinkelmeyer from Poppingham, England and her furry brown dog, Moopus McGlinden, in their first adventure. This fresh, funny, and charmingly illustrated story will make even the youngest children laugh and smile. When Mrs. Pinkelmeyer tries to put her rrrrump rrrroast in the oven, she talks on the phone to a mysterious stranger in New York who is caring for her nephew while his parents are away. Any child who has felt the sadness of separation from a loved one knows a good story can provide just the right comfort. Mrs. Pinkelmeyer distracts Henry who missed his parents so much that he was no longer singing or playing. As Mrs. Pinkelmeyer talks to little Henry on the phone from the other side of the Atlan c, he forgets his absent parents while concentrating on Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus.

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer goes on to tell Henry of Moopus’s adventures at the butcher shop where he skips and sings and takes a juicy steak bone home to hide away and eat in private. A er slobbering all over the bone, Moopus is in need of a bath. Mrs. Pinkelmeyer scrubs her furry friend everywhere, even behind his ears. Hearing this sends Henry into giggles all over again (in addi on to giving him a subtle message about cleanliness). Though in the end Mrs. Pinkelmeyer burns her rrrrump rrrroast (don’t forget the rolling r’s), she is unconcerned, because she is so happy to have helped Henry feel better. This book is the perfect gift for a child whose parents are leaving on a trip or going to be absent for any reason. All children, however, will fall in love with the irrepressible joy embodied by Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and her dog Moopus. Burn the RRRRump RRRRoast is the first in a series of Pinkelmeyer stories. It won’t be long before Mrs. P. and Moopus come skipping by again.

My Thoughts:

Jennifer told me to read this book with an accent, and when I did, my daughter first looked at me weird and then began to laugh.  I can't trill my "R's" like her dad, so she had to wait until Daddy got home to really get the feel for "RRRump RRRRoast."  I have been reading and re-reading this book to Savannah, as she continues to pull it off the shelf and hand to me.  I have to say, this is a cute book, and both Savannah and I love the illustrations.  Even though Savannah is too young to understand the premise and story behind this book and the character Mrs., Pinkelmeyer, she enjoys the storytelling aspect of it, with the twist of creating a character from England, and playing Mrs. Pinkelmeyer up through an accent.  I just love the concept and reasoning behind this silly character, and tip my hat to Jennifer for her creativity and passion to create a product line designed specifically for helping ease fear and uneasiness of children whose parents leave them with a babysitter for an evening out.  I would have never thought about creating a character to help ease little one's, but thanks to Jennifer, now I can pick her books or plush items and have on hand to help with separation anxiety when the time comes to leave our daughter with a babysitter or family member for a period of time.

If you and your child love quirky characters, and you like to play up characters through accents and role-playing, then I highly suggest you check out this book about Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and her dog Moopus.  It will have both you and your child grinning ear to ear, and laughing as you follow along as Mrs. Pinkelmeyer tries to multi-task.  I can't wait to read the next book in this series.  If it is anything like this book, it will surely become a favorite amongst my daughter and I.

Feature Friday: The Baby Diner Dish Holder, a Product of Lil' Diner LLC and Created by Meghann Mills, a Mom Entrepreneur (Product Review)

Here is another Feature Friday post -- better late than never!

This past Monday, I also interviewed Meghann Mills,co-owner with her husband, of Lil' Diner LLC, and creator of the Baby Diner Dish holder.  If you missed my interview with Meghann, click here to read it now.

In the meantime, I wanted to share my review on Meghann's Baby Diner Dish holder, which I have been using with Savannah and absolutely love!!!!

Is your little one eating solid foods yet, or at the stage where they are learning how to feed themselves with their fingers or utensils?  Well, if so, you know all to well that it is difficult to keep their plate or bowl in place.  Babies/toddlers think it is fun to through their plates on the floor, as does my daughter.  So, I have been on the hunt for a dish holder that actually holds her plates and bowls in place, and can work on a variety of tables and surfaces.

Thanks to the Baby Diner Dish Holder, I don't have to worry about messy spills or dropped plates at home and in public.  With this great invention, I can secure all Savannah's plates to the suction holder and then suction it to either her highchair food tray or directly to the table.  And, when we go out to eat, I can hold the restaurant's plates in place.  No more having to hold both mine and Savannah's plates.  Now, I can give Savannah her food and know that she will not be throwing the plate on the floor.  So, no more embarrassing messing and cleaning up around the table.  And, it is so small, that I can simply toss it in the diaper bag and we are ready to go.  Thanks to the Baby Diner Dish Holder, dining at home and in public is enjoyable again!

---BUY NOW---

This is one product every family should own. Click here to order a Baby Diner Dish Holder from the Lil' Diner LLC website for only $9.99.

Feature Friday -- Sock Ons by Mom Entrepreneur, Kezi Levin (Product Review and Giveaway)

Closed.  And, the winner is:  Christyn!!

Yes, I know it is Sunday, but both my daughter and I have been under the weather these past few days, so I haven't been able to get to the Feature Friday posts until tonight.

This past Monday, I interviewed Kezi Levin, creator of Sock Ons and Dribble Ons.  If you missed my interview with her, click here to read it not.

So, what are Sock Ons, you ask?
Sock Ons have been invented by a mum of five little boys who always lost their socks!

Sock ons are a simple yet highly effective solution to the problem of keeping socks on!

Resembling something like a ‘sock jacket’, Sock Ons slip on over the sock and ‘locks’ it into place. The design lies in the fact that if the sock is pulled from the toes, the sock gets locked into the hole around the heel, thus preventing it from slipping off.

And, what is a Dribble On?

Dribble Ons provide a stylish and clever solution for babies who constantly dribble.

Dribble Ons are made of a soft combination of stretch cotton and terry toweling which absorbs the moisture whist at the same time being comfortable and cute to wear.

My Thoughts:

Kezi kindly sent me samples of both to try with Savannah, and I have to say after using them for the past few weeks, I don't know how I ever lived without them.  First, the Sock Ons are a must have for babies who like to pull or shake off their socks.  Or, if your child is like mine, she would rather walk barefoot than have a pair of socks on.  But, with the cold weather setting in and with her learning how to walk, I want to make sure her feet are covered and protected from the elements.  And, in doing so, I needed to find a way to make sure her socks stayed on.  Enter Sock ons.  This great invention slips over your child's socks and keeps them in place.  So, no more missing socks or barefoot babies.  I used to go crazy trying to find ways to keep Savannah's socks on.  Either I would buy bigger socks and pull them up over her pants, or I would continually play the pick up and put on game with her, which over time got exhausting, as well as frustrating.  But, not anymore, thanks to Kezi's unique product.  I will definitely be using these with Savannah, as well as her new sister on the way.  And, when friends ask if I have ideas on how to keep a baby's socks on, I now rave about Sock Ons and tell them they have to pick up a pair or two.

As for the Dribble On, this has come in handy as Savannah is teething again and drooling all over the place.  Now, she can not only be stylisth, but when I need to quickly wipe up drool from her face, I can use the Dribble On.  Now, no more wet shirts that need to be continually changed throughout the day due to excess drool.  It is great!  As a busy mom on the go, the last thing I like doing is having to run into a restroom or find a place to change Savannah's shirt or one-piece outfit due to it being soaked with drool.  Since using the Dribble On, I haven't had to make unexpected pit stops to change Savannah's outfits.  And, she is a happier baby as a result of staying dry.  So, if you have a teething baby, or a baby in general who likes to drool, you should check out the Dribble On and pick one up.  It works wonders.

We combine natural ingredients like heart-healthy rolled oats rolled oats, light brown sugar, and the finest chocolate. We bake small batches from scratch every day. With the same attention to perfection as we did on day 1 in November, 1999. Our 20-plus flavors of creative culinary confections boast gourmet accents like swirls of rich peanut butter, tangy cranberries, toasted walnuts, sun-sweetened coconut, and so much more.

Rachael Ray, Oprah Winfrey, Equinox Gyms, Bergdorf's, LivingSocial, all sing our praises. And until our great goodies arrive at their new address, they're handled with the utmost care. You are the reason we want to get our day started! That's why we created our open-to-the-public bakery LOFT and we're available online 24/7. Be happy--add balance to your life every day!

My Thoughts:

The Protein Bakery kindly sent me an assortment of their cookies, brownies and blondies to try, and boy was I excited when I received the box of freshly baked goods.  I couldn't believe how many samples they sent, and while looking at each one, I could tell that they were freshly baked and would take yummy.  Even though I am a health educator, my husband is more health-conscious when it comes to selecting and eating baked goods.  If it has chocolate in it, I am game!  But, my husband loves to read the nutritional labels to check the calories, sugars, etc.  I always joke with him that you only live once and need to savor all the tasty treats that are out there -- but, deep down, I know the importance of healthy snacking and make sure that we eat sweet treats in moderation and only choose the best brands and products for my family, as I care about our overall health.

So, when I stumbled across the Protein Bakery online, I remembered that I had read various articles in magazines like The Oprah Magazine and Clean Eating.  In addition, I also recall seeing Rachel Ray feature this as one of her snacks of the day, so I knew it had to be good, if all these celebrities were getting their hands on these freshly baked goods and raving about them.

Because I knew my husband would love to sample these baked goods as much I would, I enlisted him in helping me review each of the samples sent.  Let me start off by saying that the samples only lasted 3 days in our house.  We tried them as part of our breakfast, as an evening snack with tea and my husband took a few to work to eat after his gym workout and as a mid-morning snack.  It was hard to choose a favorite amongst the samples sent to us, but again, being a chocolate lover, I found myself enjoying and savoring the brownies and chocolate chip cookies.  My husband, on the other hand, said he enjoyed the oatmeal cookies the most.  He couldn't get over how fresh they felt and tasted on the 2nd and 3rd day of sampling.  Usually cookies become brittle or dry out just after recieving them, but not the baked goods from the Protein Bakery.  These items can last up 3 weeks in the refridgetor, or can even be frozen for a longer shelf life.

Just check out the nutritional labels of some of the products we sampled from the Protein Bakery, as well as those we plan to try the next time we travel to NYC.

You can see for yourself that they only use the finest of ingredients in their products, and make sure they are offering healthy, baked goods each and every time!  Did the above images make your mouth water?  Well, mine is right now as I am writing this post.  I wish I had a brownie to munch on right at this moment -- I can only sit here and remember how tasty these baked goods were when sampling them.

I will definitely be shopping through their online this holiday season.  I especially love their gift pails of treats, and their baked goods are reasonable priced.  Who knew you could afford baked goods that contained all natural, healthy ingredients?  Look no further than the Protein Bakery for your healthy fix of brownies, blondies and cookies today!  You will not be disappointed!!!!
