Prepping For the Holidays -- Personalized Photo Greeting Cards -- How Do You Choose A Creative Theme or Background for Family Photos?

This Christmas we will be blessed with 2 daughters -- Savannah Rose 15 1/2 months, and her sister, Arabella Sofia set to arrive through induction Wednesday of this week (yes, I have been a busy mom and blogger :-) ).  I am looking to set the perfect background for a family photo, and would love to hear how you all create a theme or background for your annual holiday family photos and personalized photo cards.  Last year, we took a photo of Savannah sitting in her chair, with a holiday outfit on.  She wasn't up for the whole Santa visit, so we kept it low key.  Now, with her sister, I am looking to get either matching outfits or similar outfits and have them take a photo around the Christmas tree.  But, I would love to hear what has worked for you all in years past, or your favorite holiday card.

Once we take the perfect photo, I will be heading on over to Shutterfly to pick out and order Christmas Cards and photos gifts for the grandparents and family.  It has become tradition to order photo books and other personalized cards from Shutterfly.   And, I haven't been disappointed with the quality yet!

In addition to your feedback, I love how Shutterfly has a new initiative, Family Photos Days, where they are offering up advice and tips for families, to help them achieve the perfect photo this holiday season.

Right now, you can head on over to Shutterfly and view their digital toolkit, which provides photo taking tips and videos, to help you take the best photos this holiday season.

So, what are you waiting for?  Get your cameras out and wrangle up the family for a family photo.  If you usually don't do a family photo and just send out a card, why not switch things up this year and take a photo and add it to a holiday card.  You will be creating not only a unique and personalized holiday card, but also a keepsake that can be treasured for years to come.  And, did I mention the time you spend with family taking photos -- it is priceless!

Disclosure:  I was compensated with 50 free cards as a thank you for sharing information about Shutterfly's initiative, Family Photo Days.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
