My Thoughts:

As a little girl, I remember receiving Make Way for Ducklings, The Ugly Duckling and The Snowy Day for Christmas one year, and how I fell in love with these books.  These books became favorites that I had my mother read to me over and over again at bedtime, until I was able to read them myself.  Then, when I could read them, I would read them to my teddy bears, and then eventually shared with children I babysat when I got older.  These classics have followed me through my childhood, and now have become favorite books that I love to read with my daughters at bedtime.  It is nice to see classics like this lasting over the years and being passed down from family to family, as they are in my household.  So, as you can imagine, I was excited to find out that Scholastic was releasing this collection on DVD, and had to get a copy to share with my daughter.  Scholastic kindly sent me a review copy, and in addition to the Mo Willems DVD they also sent me, we watched this 3-disc DVD set over the weekend.  What was so great was that my parents were here for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, so I was able to share my memories of bedtime reading with my mother, while watching my daughter enjoy the stories I enjoyed as a kid.  This DVD set will definitely be watched over and over again in my house, and I can't wait until my daughters' get a little older, so that they can truly appreciate the storyline of each of these classics, and I can share with them my love for these stories.  Maybe, they too, will fall in love with Make Way for Ducklings, The Ugly Duckling and the other Caldecott classics featured in this DVD collection, and want to carry on the tradition as they grow up.

With 23 great classics brought to life in this DVD collection, both you and your child are bound to find a favorite story.  And, who knows, you may sit there with your child and reminisce about your childhood and how these books impacted you growing up.
