Last Monday, I had the opportunity to share my interview with Tania Elfersy and Andrea Katzman, creators of the book, Purple Leaves, Red Cherries: A Gift for Mothers with Short Stories, Journal and Toolkit.  If you missed my interview, click here to read it now.  Today, I wanted to share more about this wonderful book, as well as special offer only for Inspired by Savannah readers, to save you over 20% off the purchase of this amazing book, just in time for the holidays.

Like I shared in my Spotlight on Mommy post, I read this book prior to giving birth to our 2nd daughter, Arabella, on 11/10, and then brought the book with me, and read it again after she was born.  What an empowering and amazing feeling I felt holding my daughter in my hands and recalling all the stories from other moms on their experiences as moms and women.  In that moment, looking into my daughter’s eyes, I felt true bliss.  Those 10 months of pregnancy and bouts of vomiting and back pain were all forgotten, and I sat there enjoying every minute, watching her breath in and out and quiver her lips.  Like all moms, I played with her little fingers and cherished those moments when she grabbed my little finger and held on.  Ahhh, motherhood is so amazing, and worth talking about and sharing your journey with others.  This is why Tania and Andrea created Purple Leaves, Red Cherries.  In this book, other moms/women share their stories with other moms on how motherhood impacts a women’s lives.  Readers learn through firsthand experience how other women juggle the demands of parenting, with work, relationships, sex lives, and other day to day expectations.  With over 48 awe-inspiring short stories, you will laugh, cry and reminisce about your children and the roller coaster journey you have been on since becoming a mom.

I especially loved how Tania and Andrea included a section for moms to journal and write down their own personal experiences, as well a Mother’s Toolkit, which offers up practical suggestions and activities to help moms find a balance in their day-to-day lives, all while handling the demands of motherhood.

This book would make for a great gift for new moms, grandmothers and friends who are mothers.  After I finished reading this book in the hospital, I let my mother read it, and she wished this book was around years ago when we were little.  She, too, laughed and cried, reading each and every heartfelt story told by other mothers.
