Mother's Day Gift Giving Guide: Bees & Beans -- Handmade Artisan Candy Bars

Who doesn't like chocolate?  Haven't you heard the saying, "Everything is made better with chocolate."  Well, as a chocolate fanatic, I was excited to try out handmade artisan candy bars by Bees & Beans, in order to write up an honest review for my Mother's Day Gift Giving Guide.  The owner, Faith Dionne, will be featured in a couple of weeks (May 16th) as a Spotlight on Mommy, but I didn't want to make you wait that long to hear about her amazing products, which would make great gifts for Mother's Day.  The Bees & Beans candy bars are handmade from whole ingredients and arrive to your doorstep, fresh and ready to eat.

Faith sent me a sampling of her candy bars, including honey, coffee and 'Bert Bar.  I have to say, they only lasted a day in my house.  I ate the 'Bert bar upon arrival and hid a honey bar in the refrigerator, so my husband couldn't find it.  That night, I ended up having a nice midnight snack after a crazy day with my teething daughter.  I felt like I was in heaven, even just for a few minutes!

Check out the flavors available, along with their ingredients:

Honey bar
Honey caramel, salted filbert and honey nougat, hand dipped in dark chocolate with a sprinkling of sea salt

Berry bar Out of season until June 2011
Raspberry caramel, honey nougat with dried blueberries, hand dipped in dark chocolate

‘Bert bar
Filling of filberts, Milk chocolate, peanut butter, and crispy rice, hand dipped in dark chocolate

Coffee bar
Coffee caramel with toasted Oregon walnuts, hand dipped in dark chocolate

Is your mouth watering yet?  Can you choose just one flavor above?  I sure couldn't.  With Mother's Days only a few weeks ago, what are you waiting for?  Don't miss out on a great gift idea for Mom.  She deserves only the best when it comes to artisan candy bars.  And, if you are lucky, she may even share a piece with you!

About Faith Dionne, the Creator of Bees & Beans:

I believe in real food, small economies, and sense of place.  In my career as a pastry chef I have lived and worked all over the United States.  Each place that I have lived has a unique and complete identity that I experienced through food.  Living in Portland Oregon has been a paradise of ingredients and has grown a food community that celebrates locality.  I have set out to showcase our region with an ingredient-driven candy bar line.

These candy bars are made in small batches featuring our prized local honey, butter, cream, coffee, raspberries, blueberries, walnuts and filberts.  The chocolate is artisan made 70% dark chocolate.  These candy bars are handmade from whole ingredients in small batches, and are fresh!  The packaging is eco-friendly and completely biodegradable.  These are candy bars that you can feel great about eating.

Disclosure:  I was sent samples in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
