Summary:

F is for Fireflies is written by award-winning prolific children’s author, Kathy-jo Wargin. This beautifully illustrated book explores God’s warmest, wonder-filled season from A to Z, by delighting young readers with beaches and sandcastles, picnics and lemonade, and all of the blessings that God’s summer brings.

“God made the Fireflies light up the night, A flash and a flicker—His love is so bright!”

My Review:

If you like faith-based books for children, then you should add this book to your collection.  Through alphabetizing summer's simplest pleasures, not only will children learn about their ABC's, but they will also learn about God's warmest and most beautiful season.  God is only mentioned in the book, in simple ways, so non-Christian readers will also enjoy reading this story.  God is presented as a powerful force in nature and through the rhyming ABC's, children are introduced to all the wonders that God has created for us to enjoy.

I just loved the illustrations done by Linda Bronson.  She uses bright and inviting colors that bring the pages of this story to life.  The flowers and summer activities that she depicts look so real and jump off the pages.  Your children will love turning the pages to see what favorite summertime wonder goes with each letter of the alphabet.

Get ready to enjoy the beauty of summer with your children in F is for Fireflies.

About the Author:

When Kathy-jo Wargin was a young girl, each night after dinner, her mother let her choose between washing the dishes or writing a poem. Before long, she decided that if she grew up to be a writer, she wouldn't have to do any dishes. She has since learned that even though she has published more than twenty award-winning books for children, she still has to wash the dishes. Kathy-jo lives in Minnesota with her husband and her son. About the Illustrator:

Linda Bronson grew up on the Jersey Shore. At school, she daydreamed and doodled instead of listening to her lessons. It wasn't until Linda went to college at the Rhode Island School of Design that she truly blossomed. Linda's painting can now be seen in picture books, magazines, advertisements, posters, and greeting cards. She thinks she has the world's best job.

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this book by the publisher, Zonderkidz in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
